About
Welcome here,
I’m thewillowheartist aka as Liz.
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve always loved willow trees, always seeking them out and more often than not, found playing hide & seek amongst their trailing branches. I was always playing out in nature and loved the freedom of growing up in a rural place. My love of beachcombing & pebbles came from childhood holidays exploring the Welsh coast.
Later my older free spirited self enjoyed some travel time that took me to different places & whether it was mountains, oceans, forests or watching sunsets, my appreciation of being in nature grew. Then, with a chance encounter or looking back now, synchronicity with someone who told me about Reiki, that was it, a glimpse of a more holistic, spiritual path. Learning more about energy work led to experiences together with mentors I've met along the way, have grown me & shown me we are all connected (& it made me want to paint hearts on everything as my heart chakra opened more & blossomed!).
Fast forward to 2020 – the year that has challenged us in every aspect of our lives & made us dig deep to find inner resources to find our way through. Feeling all the pressures & challenges that this year has brought, I found myself taking longer walks in the woods with our doggie to feel more grounded when everything else around felt unstable. With an interest in animal guides, symbolism & spiritual signs that are around on a daily basis but often missed by us being too busy, too distracted with other stuff we need to do, I looked for them more than ever. I kept coming back to the willow tree with its symbolism of being flexible, capable of bending without breaking &the message it brings with adjusting to life when life changes & even through great love & loss we have the ability to connect, hope, grow & heal.
So...after finding some willow tree twigs I'd collected that had fallen during Autumn a few years ago, together with my trusty pebbles & some creative, divine inspiration thewillowheartist came to be!
